Crawling! Pulling Himself Up!

As of my last post many of you probably thought, he'll be pulling himself up very soon. Well...it has happened! This kid is so determined not to be a baby and it makes me very sad! Anyway, as of this past weekend he is fully pulling himself up into standing position on anything he can get a grip on...coffee table, couch, ottoman, crib. Twice since Sunday I've gone to get him from a nap and he's standing up in his crib laughing like he did something really great. He's also full on crawling. I'm 100% blaming the Zehring kids for his desire to be big...he watches them walking around, strutting their stuff and thinks "I can do that!". Naptime

We've shared before that Dane is and always has been a great sleeper. Our naptime / nighttime ritual typically consists of Dane taking a bottle while being rocked and then he goes into the crib once the bottle is empty. He generally plays with one pacifier while sucking on the other for about 10 minutes and then he falls asleep. If there is crying for some reason, we go and take care of it and put him back down. This morning, I did all of these steps and could hear him playing in his crib through the monitor. He had been playing for about 20 minutes and didn't seem to be settling down to go to sleep, so I went in to check on him. This is what I found...

Little Monkey! I know I've said this before on the blog, but he truly is into everything. He's on the brink of crawling, still relies mostly on the army crawl to get around but he does get up on all fours to take a few "steps". It's all happening way too quickly, I can't keep up with this kid! He has been trying to pull himself up on the coffee table for a couple weeks, but at least that is where I can watch him. In his crib I can't! Oh the anxiety of parenting! Now that he's so mobile and determined, it's scary! I'm always afraid he's going to fall and bash his cute little face!

Unbelievable...sickening!

Chicago Half Marathon

On Sunday, September 13th Cameron participated in the 13th Annual Half Marathon in Chicago. Although he has bad memories from running the full marathon in 2007 (it was a record breaking HOT day in October), he thought he would try again with the half. He did really well, finishing 13.1 miles in 1 hour, 55 minutes. He still plans to run one more marathon but would rather not run Chicago again. He's hoping to get into the New York City marathon next November. The NYC marathon has a limited number of slots available for runners, so they use a lottery to select. Cameron has tried the past 2 years, but has not been selected. We've heard there is a guarantee on the 3rd year if you haven't gotten in the previous 2 years so hopefully we'll be heading to NYC next November to cheer him on!

We ganked this picture from the marathon photo website because I was unfortunately unable to head into the city to cheer him on this time and get pictures. I would have had to leave at 6am just to have a chance at seeing him finish and it wouldn't have been guaranteed. Fighting traffic with a 7 month old didn't sound too appealing, so we cheered him on from home!

What have we been up to?

Well, for starters we've been trying to keep our offspring out of TROUBLE! This little gomer is getting into everything! He is a speedy army crawler and can get across the room in seconds to...

Climb over the "blockade":Pull himself up on things he shouldn't:Play with his toys in ways not intended:Also, we spent Labor day weekend at the lake with Tim & Teresa and Terry & Di (from San Francisco). We had a nice, relaxing time and Monday we went to the Walworth County Fair!
