Easter Weekend Festivities

On Saturday Cameron ran another half marathon in Schaumburg, IL...the Eggshell Shuffle. He ran 13.1 miles in 1 hour, 44 minutes and 43 seconds. Congratulations to Cameron on finishing another long run and at his fastest time to date!

Dane also completed his first Easter egg hunt this Easter!! He was so excited about finding each egg and we even let him have some of the candy, although he really only ate the jelly beans (he took one bite of a reese's peanut butter cup and handed it to me!). How can he not like chocolate??

A Week in Leesburg

Last week Cameron attended his annual reward trip in Scottsdale, AZ. I did have the opportunity to join him, however with Kale being only 8 weeks old I wasn't ready to ship him off to someone else yet. Kind of like - here, take my baby for 4 nights and plan to get up with him at least twice a night...have fun! :) I will have no problem doing that to Cameron the weekend of April 29th so I can get away for 2 nights to Sonoma, CA with the girls but I didn't want to do it to someone who wasn't a parent! So, I packed up the boys and went back to visit my family for the week! Sorry to everyone I didn't see...the time always goes by so fast and before I know it, I'm heading back to IL. We did enjoy a nice week of playing outside with Andon & Presley and visiting with Grandma, Janel, Brian, Grandpa, Jeff, Christy and little Barrett who is just 3 weeks older than Kale!

No Nap

This is what happens when you've had no nap and it's the first nice day of spring and you've been running around like a crazy boy all day long and it's only 6:15pm....

Bittersweet

This is a bittersweet weekend for us. Bitter because we are taking Barley and Roscoe to their new home, but sweet because we know they will get more love and attention than they currently get here. A girl (she's our age but I hate the term "woman") who works for Cameron's company is going to become their new mommy! We are excited to be handing them over to someone we know and trust, but no matter what it's hard because we're giving up 2 very big parts of our family that we dearly love. I am sure it will be really hard on Dane and he will ask about them a lot in the beginning. The one thing that makes the situation a bit easier is that I can connect with their new owner to see how they are adjusting and how they are doing! I love that I will know how things go for them...it gives me such peace of mind!

A Mother's Prayer

I stole this from a friend's blog...thought it was 100% true. This has been one of those weeks as a mom that you wonder if anything you do or say is sinking in!

Lord, when they scribble on the walls, please help me to see a rainbow!

And when I've said something a hundred times, please give me the patience to say it a hundred more!

And on those particularly annoying days when I tell them to act their age, please help me to remember that they are!

And while we are on the subject of age, Lord, when I begin to lose my temper, please help me to remember to act mine!

And through it all, Lord-- the fingerprints and runny noses, messy rooms and unrolled toilet paper, destroyed videotapes, and broken knick-knacks-- please help me to remember this:

Someday, these will be the days I will long to have back again.

Nugget Anyone?

Yesterday morning we ran out to the mall for a couple hours. We grabbed a happy meal for Dane on the way home so he would eat and not fall asleep in the car. He sleeps much longer and better if we can get him in his bed and we knew he was very tired. So, he started eating his chicken nuggets and was falling asleep while chewing...head bobbing back and forth, eyes closing, etc. He finally shoved the rest of the chicken nugget in his mouth and completely passed out. We did wake him up to get the nugget out of his mouth but not before we snapped some pictures with our phones!
