This is what we've been up to! We've been traveling around a bit.

The weekend of May 18th, we jumped in the car and headed to Pittsfield to spend time with family down there and to celebrate Lily's 3rd birthday!

Her party was at a camp ground so we got to fish, play on the beach and have a bonfire!

 And Dane and Molly got married...they grow up too fast!

The Friday before Memorial day weekend, Dane had his "last day of school" party at the park. It was a bit chilly but the boys had a great time running around our favorite park and seeing the giant fish.

Memorial day weekend we had visitors! The Doll family came to participate in the color run with us and stayed for a few days. Unfortunately I was unable to participate due to a bum ankle, but the boys and I went to cheer them on!

After the Dolls left on Sunday, we jumped in the car and ran up to Whitewater lake for the night. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and it rained a lot, but we were able to get in some fishing!

Mother's Day

I am a little behind on blogging but I did want to share that I had a special mother's day weekend. On Friday, Dane's school had a special mom's day. We made a picture frame, played some games and then shared a special snack that the kids made for us. They also did a little program for us, sang some songs and then gave us our mother's day gifts.

 And the inside of the card he made "I love my mommy because...cuz her let's me drive tractors. Sometimes her a little bit busy. She lets me go outside on the playground set and play John Deere tractors outside." 

This card has been a major source of parent guilt since I received it last Friday. My translation of this card is basically that I am often too busy to play with Dane and so I shuffle him outside to play so he is out of my hair. I am making a focussed effort to stop "doing". There is always stuff to do - dishes, cleaning, picking up, laundry...the list goes on and on. But I never want my kids to think I am too busy for them.

On Sunday, I woke up to breakfast in bed with 2 little monkeys crawling all around me asking for bite after bite. I shared. And I also got a gorgeous bouquet and didn't have to cook all day long!

Guys Weekend 2013

As I stated earlier, Cameron hosted boys weekend this year. They have gone on fishing trips for the past few years and this year they continued with the fishing theme....just freshwater this time. On Saturday, they jumped the train and headed into Chicago to catch the Cubs game. On Sunday they left our house at 4am and went salmon fishing on Lake Michigan. They were out on the water before it was even light out. We had some amazing salmon ceviche and grilled salmon for dinner on Sunday. Thankfully JB doubles as the fishing expert and also an amazing chef!

 And what fish dinner would be complete without s'mores for dessert?

Weekend Visitors

Cameron had his guy's weekend here this year. They went to a Cubs game on Saturday and on a salmon fishing excursion on Sunday (pics to come soon). While they were out doing guy things, we finally got to meet our friend's twin baby girls...Vera and Sabrina. The boys LOVED them and were so stinkin' cute with them. Dane was actually very sad to wake up on Saturday morning to find out the babies had left.
