As I've stated before, this blog serves as a journal for our life. I don't scrapbook and I don't keep any baby books. This is it. I've been very bad about blogging about day to day things that happen here, things that are hilarious to us but might not be to you. Either way, I have promised myself that I will get better about it. Too many things happen that I don't want to forget and I know I will...so, here are a few of the funny things that Dane has shared with us the past couple days.
***"mommy, I have a tail." when questioned about said tail, he (of course, he's a boy) grabbed the tail that resides in the front of his body. then he one upped his own statement by sharing that Kale has a tail too.
***"mommy, I pick my nose in bed." this one doesn't really need explanation except that he picks his nose constantly and it's completely habit. most of the time he doesn't even know his finger is in his nose.
***"mommy, when I get big I can drink coffee too." one would think I'm a coffee-holic from this statement, but I only have one cup in the morning...apparently it looks cool! :)
***"time to go outside, oh yeah, oh yeah". this is spoken in the exact likelihood of Pauly D from Jersey Shore and it typically goes with anything, not just going outside. It could be "time to eat wunch, oh yeah, oh yeah" or "time for bed, oh yeah, oh yeah". And if you don't know how Pauly D says it, please google or youtube it because it makes it all the more hilarious coming out of a 3 year old's mouth.
***"looking good out there, guys!" this was stated to the construction crew that was redoing our neighbor's roof. And yes, the window that he was standing in front of was wide open. and yes, he YELLED this statement at the men. I am sure they got a chuckle.
And Kale has things to say now as well. He does have a few words that we can understand and he points at things a lot. Kale can say momma, dadda, uh oh, all done and he mimics us a lot. I also think he says Dane, but I also feel like he calls him different things (probably based on how Dane is treating him at the time).

Intercall Gold Club 2012
As most of you know, Cameron's company hosts an awards trip for the sales staff who reach their annual goals. Each year is always amazing and they always put us up in the most gorgeous resorts in the best locations. This year was no different. We stayed at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya, Mexico. We were totally pampered and they had a spa that was ranked world wide. I did go get a treatment that was awesome and the spa was the most beautiful spa I've ever seen. Aside from that, it was lots of laying by the pool and getting dressed up for the company dinners. I was definitely ready to get home and squeeze two little boys that I missed terribly after 4 days, but it was a nice break for me and a nice getaway with the hubs!

And I'm Leavin' On A Jet Plane....
A HUGE thank you to my mom who completely changed around the original plans to accommodate our family due to yet another illness in the Hatten house! Cameron and I fly out in the morning and we were supposed to take the boys back to Leesburg while we were gone but unfortunately Dane has a virus called Adeno virus and he can't be around Andon & Presley. So mom came to our house to manage our wild children for a few days. And of course I sit here wishing that we didn't leave for another week because now my poor baby is sick and it's hard enough for me to leave them when they're well...no turning back now! Stay tuned for pictures from Cameron's company trip!

Neglected
This blog is neglected...but it's just one thing on a long list of things that I'm currently neglecting. I neglect myself. Without meaning to, I neglect my poor hubby. I feel like I hit the ground running in the morning and I don't stop until the boys are in bed. At that point, I am so tired that doing anything except watching mindless tv doesn't appeal to me. I am putting all my energy into 2 little boys, laundry, keeping some sort of cleanliness to the house, cleaning up mess after mess that these 2 make and making a (sometimes) edible dinner. I know we're in the "hard" phase with the ages of our boys and I also know that it will only continue to get easier, but I look around my house and see all the things that need to be done and just wish I had time to get it all done. I don't have time to do anything extra, I'm getting by on just the basics right now. I feel like I've really accomplished something in a day if the boys are dressed, fed 3 meals, a couple loads of laundry are done, and I managed to sneak in a workout and shower. The last 2 are actually icing on the cake, not really the norm. My dear husband does all he can to help me out but he has a job to do as well and he's gone all day for his job. I am trying very hard to enjoy Kale's babyhood like I did Dane's but I just find myself so busy that I'm not taking the time to enjoy all that I should be. I know I am preaching to the choir and that all mothers feel the same way. All that said, I am looking very forward to Cameron's annual company trip coming up very soon. I hate leaving my boys, but I am excited about spending some quality time with my husband and making up for some of my neglectfulness. I am learning how to just leave things be and enjoy the time I have with my boys and husband. It's very hard for me not to have the exceptionally clean house with everything in it's place, with all the laundry folded and put away but day by day, I am learning to let it go. It's a juggling act everyday! It's been an awesome learning experience for me and I continue to learn each day how to manage all this. I guess what I'm saying is when you visit, please don't judge me if there are 2 baskets of clean, folded laundry sitting on the kitchen counter or if my measuring cups are mixed in with the toys on the floor, or if Dane is running around in just a shirt and underwear (because that is the chosen outfit since potty training began), or if the sink has dirty dishes in it...or...or...or. I can say with 100% honesty that all is clean when we go to bed, but the 2 little tornadoes that live here wreak havoc by 9am and my job right now is just try to keep up.
This is in no way meant as a complaint. I am so thankful for all that we have been blessed with, especially our precious boys. I will gladly take the fingerprints on my windows, the crumbs on my floors, my kitchen towels and oven mits thrown all over the kitchen, the stuffed animals tossed down the stairs, the lack of "me" time because my prayers were answered when I got these 2 little gifts that create the messes.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?
Dane has memorized a few of his books and likes to "read" to us from time to time. Here is a clip of him reading "Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?"

Big Changes at Age 3
So yesterday Dane had his first dentist appointment. We took him to a pediatric dental office that came highly recommended by friends and our pediatrician's office...he took his frog with him for moral support. They were wonderful! Very patient and explained everything in a child friendly manner. So check that off the list. Additionally we began potty training last Friday. We were planning to wait until summer because we had heard it's so easy to train boys outside in the summer but last Thursday Dane declared "I want to wear underwear like Nathan at school" so we're going with it. Each day seems different. We've had days of 5 accidents and we've had days of 2 accidents but he doesn't want anything to do with diapers anymore and at night we have to put underwear over his diaper to eliminate the threat of a tantrum. All good things, I think. At least we're heading in the right direction. I look forward to only having one child in diapers!
