Enjoying Summer

We have been so busy enjoying summer that posting has been very infrequent. I guess that is a good thing....living vs. blogging!

We have made 2 trips to the Milwaukee Zoo (we were gifted a family pass for the boys' birthdays). First trip was just me and the boys. The second trip was with our "play group"...the group of kiddos and moms that we have been getting together with since Dane was 10 months old!
Petting the sting rays....
Petting a goat and clearly Dane had an itch...
We've hit up our local splash park to beat the heat!
We've spent a couple weekends back in Indiana hanging with our cousins!

We've enjoyed corn on the cob. Dane isn't a veggie eater and was refusing to eat his corn. The only thing I said was "that's what farmers grow in their fields." He started nibbling and exclaimed that he loved corn on the cob! Clearly Dane is quite obsessed with all things having to do with farms, farming and tractors.

And we've enjoyed the Blackhawks winning the Stanley cup!!

Dancing Machine

Since I have no time to catch up on blogging right now, I will leave you with a little clip of our dancing machine!
I have at least 3 blog posts to compose, but I am not quite sure when I will get to it. I hope to catch up this week!

Libertyville Days

Our little town has an annual weekend festival called "Libertyville days". They have a carnival with all sorts of rides and food, different bands play at the beer garden, and on Saturday there is a parade. We have been going for a few years, even before we lived here. The kids get a kick out of the rides and we just love spending a small fortune on carnival rides that could break down at any moment. We completely traumatized Kale this year on the kiddie coaster and they had to stop the ride because he was crying. Parents of the year. He liked all the other rides. Then Dane broke down on the boats because his seat belt was unbuckled...complete meltdown while holding up the seat belt to show us just how dangerous the situation was. That carnie didn't care and Dane had to power through the entire 5 minutes of that ultra dangerous boat ride.

Here are the boats....the ride that caused the extreme meltdown for Dane:
And here is the kiddie coaster that caused Kale's ultra meltdown:
Anxiously waiting for the ride to start, having no idea that extreme terror was right around the corner:
We braved the rain for the parade on Saturday:
Thankfully it let up and we were able to drop the ponchos:
Happy about all the candy he was putting in the stroller basket...
Happy he had a bag of popcorn...

Take Me Out To The Ballgame....

On Thursday, June 13th Dane & I had a mommy / son date with our friends to the Cubs game. Dane & Rocco are the same age and Nicole & I have been friends since college. We jumped on the train around noon and headed to Chicago. We got to the game at the end of the first inning and managed to stay until the 7th inning stretch. The boys (mostly Dane) were a bit antsy. We tried all tactics to keep them interested in the game but it was a lost cause.

Don't they look incredibly thrilled to be there?
The train was waaaay more exciting....
checking out the scenery on the train:
watching the seagulls during the game:
By the 5th inning, both boys were drawing....

I Scream, You Scream....

Cameron's Birthday Weekend O'Fun

Cameron turned 36 on Friday, June 7th.  Of course we had to celebrate it all weekend! On Friday, we took in a Cubs game with our friends from Hawaii. We obviously don't get to see them often since they live all the way in paradise, but they usually fit us in when they are back in town visiting family.
On Saturday, we just hung out as a family and loved it. Cameron has been traveling more for work lately and we've just been crazy busy so just hanging at home was wonderful. And the kicker?!?! The ice cream man stopped by!
On Sunday we had a very low key cook out complete with bonfire and s'mores. 14 adults / 11 kids...the odds were in our favor, but I think the adults lost this round! The kids were great and actually played really well together. Aside from the occasional sand thrown in the face (mostly by Kale), all was pretty relaxed.
And dare I say that summer has finally arrived??? Here's hoping!
