"Dirty Thirty" Weekend Fun

Cameron and I had another night out on the town while Gpa and Gma Hatten took care of Dane. These nights out don't happen very often because we can't stand to leave the little guy! Anyway, Cameron's coworker is turning 30 on July 1st and they celebrated with what she lovingly called a "Dirty Thirty" party. Happy Birthday, Cara! We had a lot of fun celebrating with you!

RIP MJ, King of Pop

So the king of pop has passed on...kind of weird to have the first BIG celebrity of my generation gone. I remember my mom talking about the day Elvis died and what a shocking, heartbreaking day that was. When I read online that MJ had died, I wouldn't have been more shocked if a stranger walked into my house and smacked me with a 2x4! What an unexpected death! No matter how weird he was or what went on in the last 15 years of his life, I don't think anyone can disagree with the fact that he was a talented music man and dancer. Really, who else created a dance as popular and well known as the "moonwalk"? I remember the wall size poster my cousin had of him on her bedroom wall when we were little and I remember renting "The Making of Thriller" from the video store over & over & over again. Without question, the man was an icon...a weird one but an icon nonetheless.

Andon's MRI Results

Andon's MRI today was even better than the last one! He's still free & clear of cancer, but his scar tissue is starting to shrink as well!! Thank you for the continued prayers for Andon!

Happy Father's Day!!

Happy First Father's day, Cameron...you're a wonderful dad and Dane absolutely adores you! I know they'll be many challenges ahead in raising our child, but I wouldn't want to be sharing this responsibility with anyone else! Also - a BIG Happy Father's day to both of our terrific dads...Dennis & Tim!

Not anything to do with father's day, but many of you have asked - Andon is doing GREAT! Janel said she's having a hard time keeping him down to rest and heal.

Dane's 4 Month Check Up

Taken after his doctor visit:Dane had his 4 month check up this morning...he weighed in at 16lbs, 10 oz and 26 inches long. He continues to be in the 90th percentile for height and the 75th for weight. He was a real trooper with his shots...kind of whimpered on the first one and cried for just a minute with the second. We get to start him on cereal tonight so I'm sure we'll have some funny pictures and video footage to show very soon! He has mastered rolling onto his tummy but that is as far as he gets, he can't roll back. Most of the time when we check on him or get him from a nap or in the morning, he's on his tummy. He seems to sleep better that way because his naps have gone from 1 hour to around 2 hours. He's in such a fun stage and he is so mesmerized by everything around him. He reaches for things now and seems to know what he's doing with his hands. He loves his bath and splashes around in it for as long as we let him. We're checking into baby swim classes to see if he truly is a water bug. He loves to sit up (always assisted) and thinks he's pretty big stuff. The Dr. did confirm that he is NOT teething and that the classic symptoms of teething generally start at around 4 months, even if they aren't actually getting any at that point in time.

Andon Update

So many of you have followed Andon's story through our blog and prayed him into getting as far as he has! We're asking for prayers once again as he goes into minor surgery on Thursday, June 18th to remove his port. The port is how they have accessed him for blood work and to administer chemo. Also, Andon's next MRI is next Tuesday, June 23rd. Please continue to pray for clear scans...he's 7 months out of treatment and we expect to continue getting wonderful news! Thank you for all the prayers and support!

Busy Weekend

This weekend was a busy one for us...probably the busiest since Dane was born! On Friday Cameron had to entertain some guys he works with at the Cubs game...tough job, right? Our friends Scott & Sara took their boys to Six Flags Great America and stopped by for a visit on their way back to Chicago. Thank you all for making the time to stop in!

Pierce, Hudson & Dane:
On Saturday Cameron had another Cubs game to attend but this one was pretty special. Cameron had purchased a "Wrigley Dream Day" at a charity auction he went to last year. The package consisted of 4 tickets right behind home plate and also access to the field prior to the first pitch.

Joe, Cameron, Luke & Eric:
On Sunday we went to the Mertens house to celebrate Rocco & Owen's baby dedication and Reese's 3rd birthday. The day included Dane's first dip in a pool! He loves his bath but seemed pretty indifferent to the pool!

Dane's 3 Month Pictures

We had Dane's 3 month pictures taken on Mother's day and we just got the CD with all the prints. We have 120 pictures to choose from and I have no idea how we're going to choose! Bella Baby photography did such an amazing job. See below for some of our faves...

Happy Birthday Cameron!

Well, I said I was going to be better about posting family member's birthdays but I've continued to neglect them! Sorry to our immediate family, I will try to do better. There is one birthday that I have to post about...my dear hubby turns 32 today! He's a couple months behind me in that category, but I just can't help but wonder - when did we hit our 30s? I can't believe we're already almost 15 years out of high school! Happy birthday to the best husband and father! Our son's face lights up when you walk in the door and it just melts my heart! Thank you for working so incredibly hard so I can live out my dream as a stay at home mom! Dane & I appreciate you so much and I feel very lucky to be at home raising our baby boy! We love you, Cameron!

Cutting Teeth

Not 100% sure, but we believe our son might be cutting his first tooth / teeth. I know he's very young - only 3.5 months - but Andon had 2 teeth at four months old so I know it's possible. He's drooling like crazy, a bit crankier than usual and doesn't just put things in his mouth but GNAWS on everything. We've been letting him chew on cold wash cloths and that seems to help a bit. He woke up 3 times on Tuesday night and that is totally unlike him, but last night he slept like a champ - down at 8pm, woke up to eat at 4:30am and then slept until 7:15!! He's also napping better and longer so I think he's trying to get himself on a schedule. The only schedule we've tried to keep him on is at bed time, but his napping has been all over the place. Aside from that, he's growing like crazy! He's in mostly 6-9 months size clothes with a few exceptions. We've packed up most of his 0-3 month and 3-6 month sizes already! Cameron got on the scale with him the other evening and he's about 15.5 lbs. His next wellness appointment is on the 18th so we will see how much he weighs then. He's working on rolling over from tummy to back, but he already rolls from back to tummy. I know that is backwards from what most babies do, but for whatever reason that is what he does. He grabs at everything - my hair is always up now and those chandelier earrings I love so much are stuck in my jewelry box until further notice. We are having so much fun with him and his laid back personality is starting to shine through. Even with the teething crankiness he continues to be an easy babe and seems to just take everything as it comes.

Dane still has a lot more to say!
