Tee Ball Saturdays

For the past few weeks, we've been heading to Dane's tee ball games every Saturday. Thankfully, after the first week Dane has done a much better job. He stays out on the field and seems to be loving it. Kale is incredibly jealous and just wants to play too. I guess that is the downfall of being the second child....you're just not always old enough to join in on the fun!
Gearing up for a big hit!
 He connects!
 Running home...

Arlington Park Family Day

A few weeks ago, Cameron and I took the boys to the Arlington Park horse race track for family day. They had some additional kid friendly things that day....petting farm, bounce house, games, etc. You can also go down to the stables where the horses are held until they race and get a closer glimpse of them. The boys seemed to have fun...they tried many snacks, they placed bets and unfortunately luck wasn't on any of our sides that day. The Hattens didn't get one pay out!

Waiting patiently to get in the bounce house...
Kale watching the pony rides...crazy long line that we didn't choose to wait in.
watching the horses come around the track...
Helping daddy place his bets! (stellar parenting)
 Brothers gotta hug (or tackle)....
front and center to watch the finish line!
Kale was trying to get a better view of the race...

Bon Jovi!

Last weekend I had the opportunity to catch the Bon Jovi concert with some of Cameron's family from southern IL. We don't get to spend enough time with them so it was fun to catch up. We had an extra ticket so as an added bonus I got to hang with my old college roomie as well! I don't get to see her enough either! The concert was great, the company even better! Cameron gets a concert night this Friday...Pearl Jam at Wrigley Field. For those of you that know Cameron well, this is a concert he's been waiting for his entire life. His favorite band at his favorite ball park!

The entire crew:
Alicia and I catching up after way too long!

4th of July weekend

We had a fun, relaxing 4th of July and weekend. We were able to get up to the lake with Cameron's parents for a couple days. We came back home to head to Dane's t ball game (he did sooooo much better this time. stayed on the field, no pouting or fits. the ice cream bribe worked! stellar parenting). Then the Zehrings and my mom came to hang out with us for a couple days. Cameron, Dane, Brian and Andon went to the Cubs game on Sunday and had a great time. Janel & I took Pres and Kale to the pool while the rest of the crew was at the game. All in all, a great holiday and weekend!
I cannot seem to find the other pics the guys sent me from the Cubs game...the ones of both boys! Sorry to leave Andon out of these pics!
Which one of these faces doesn't belong?? Someone woke a bit too early from the excitement of the cousins in town and had a long afternoon at the Cubs game...Dane was meltdown city when they got back from the game.

Our Little Joiner

Last week Dane had soccer camp. Unfortunately he missed half of the week because he was sick. I think he had fun on the days he was there, but I am not totally sure because he kept walking off the field. One day was really hot so I think that was a factor...he kept coming off for water.
On one of many trips off the field. See how all the kids are still playing behind him?
Meanwhile, this was my partner in crime. He thankfully was cooperative and actually sat for most of camp so I wasn't chasing him all over!
Dane also started tee ball this week. That was another frustrating hour. Dane would get upset when he didn't get the ball so he would throw his hat and / or glove and stomp off the field. Once he got a ball and also hit, he seemed happier and stayed out and played. I am not at all sure where he gets his stubbornness from....I absolutely have to think it came from the Hatten side because the Polks aren't stubborn (wink wink)!!

Up to bat (Please let go of my bat, coach! I've got a home run in me!)
A hit! Not quite the home run he was hoping for...
On base, waiting to head home!
A little pep talk from the coach!
And now, waiting to get the ball.
 Still waiting....
 Going after it...
Every time the ball was hit, it ended up like this. A total pile up...like bees on honey!

 Meanwhile on the side lines...
Being the 2nd child is rough, you're too young to do anything the oldest is doing even though you really want to participate!
Thankfully, he's a pretty easy going kiddo. At least, the most easy going of our two so he takes it all in stride!
